Project description

Kimbo Rd has an existing concrete causeway across the Baldry Creek. The structure is estimated to be 40-50 years old with significant deterioration to the concrete deck with large sections breaking off. The vertical alignment is poorly designed with a very sharp crossing point preventing access to restricted access commodity vehicles such as B Doubles. B Doubles are required to travel an extra 9km to the south to access Booborowie Rd. In wet years, Baldry Creek can run up to 1.5m deep and 30m wide over Kimbo Rd and a semi permanent water hole is created either side of the road. Kimbo Rd provides an east-west connection to the major north-south transport corridor, Booborowie Rd.

Remove the existing concrete structure and replace with a new concrete deck. The approach grades will be improved to allow access for longer vehicles and upon completion this section of Kimbo Rd will be added to the 26m commodity freight network. The new deck will be 50m long, 7m wide and 150mm thick.
