Project description

The section of Flagstaff Road requires full pavement reconstruction due to its pavement strength, narrow shoulder and visibility. The road is now a critical freight route vital to the area to Ingham Silo and Big River Pork. There are also fatigues and failures in the pavement and the conditions at the driveways to each of this major operation are bad and deteriorating. The road is in a 100km per hour zone.

The work proposed includes widening and reconstructing the 2.5km section of Flagstaff Road with a pavement that is suitable for long term (future projections with growth) heavy vehicle loading of adequate width and shoulders/clear zones. There are also works proposed for traffic treatment at intersections. BAL treatment will be included at the driveway into major operations along Flagstaff Road. The overall carriageway width will be increased from 6.6m to 9m sealed width with pavement to be surfaced to 300mm. The finished surface is proposed to be two coat spray seal and asphalt to be incorporated at intersections and major driveways.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,725,000
