Project description

Major pavement failures, heavily patched due past failures, cracked and with joints (points of weakness) arising due to construction of widenings.

Road maintenance including minimal kerb renewal work, road patching and resurfacing. Structurally improve base pavement layers and provide a new wearing surface. Resurfacing will serve to better waterproof the road, eliminate the need for any maintenance in the foreseeable future and make its appearance more homogeneous with improved ride-ability and skid resistance, noting this is one of Councils busier collectors

Chandos Road (Rural Road) - 056064-15SA-RTR

Road surface has deteriorated due to loss of rubble material over the yearsResheeting failed section on a road length of 3km with a width of 7 metres by providing compacted rubble to a depth of 150mm

Laverstock Road, Elizabeth North, - 056065-15SA-RTR

The City of Playford (Council) has identified Laverstock Road, Elizabeth North, as a location that would benefit from the implementation of traffic control devices. Anecdotal evidence from residents indicates that vehicles travel at excessive speed down this road and the tyre marks on the road indicate that this is a location where motorists drive in a deliberately dangerous manner. Traffic counts undertaken by Council, have recorded the 85th percentile to be 56.5km/h and 58 km/h in either direction, however there were a number of vehicles recorded throughout the day to be in excess of 100km/h in each direction.Two Intersection Rearrangements at consecutive intersections were indicated as the best treatment at this location. The proposed arrangement would provide two Intersection Rearrangements at the intersections of Minchington Road and Brixton Road with Laverstock Road. The Intersection rearrangements involve the construction of concrete protuberances and median to slow vehicular traffic and re-direct their path through the intersection, as well as associated lighting upgrade and linemarking.

Kintore Community Access Road ( Rural link Rd) - 056066-15NT-RTR

The Kintore Access Road has been formed to a rural type cross section with sections that have been eroded below natural ground level. The Road is very loose and corrugated with at least 50% of the road requiring formation works to bring the road crown up to natural level. There is no evidence of any gravel pavement construction. There are washouts, scouring in the section due to poor drainage.For Sections below natural ground level, grading and light watering and compaction, construct new 7m wide 150mm thick subgrade layer and compact. Construct new 7m wide 150mm thick gravel base and compact. For Sections above natural surface level, Prepare existing formation,compact to produce 7m wide 150mm thick subgrade surface. Construct new 7m wide 150mm thick gravel base and compact. Boxing out and Construct two floodways with 300mm gravel base, Reinstate existing offlet drains and blocks, Construct additional 20 offlet drains and blocks, construct levee banks for the two floodways.

Geranium South Road (Rural Road) - 056067-15SA-RTR

Road surface has deteriorated due to material failure over a period of timeReseal 4km using 10mm aggregate and spray seal for a width of 7 metres

Tooraweenah Aerodrome Road (Rural Road) - 056071-15NSW-RTR

The existing bitumen seal is approximately 20 years old and is starting to break up, causing pavement potholes, shoving of the outer wheel paths and edge break. There is also severe longitudinal and lateral cracking happening. Road shoulders need reforming.Correct any surface defects eg: potholes/shoves, maintenance grade the shoulders, import gravel to reshape shoulders where necessary, then bitumen seal to a width of 6m using 14mm aggregate.

Collie Road (Rural Road) - 056073-15NSW-RTR

The existing bitumen seal is approximately 20 years old and is starting to break up, causing pavement potholes and edge break and drop off. There is also severe longitudinal and lateral cracking happening. Road shoulders need regrading.Correct any surface defects eg: potholes/shoves, maintenance grade the shoulders, import gravel to reshape shoulders where necessary and then bitumen seal to a width of 6m using 14mm aggregate.

Raymond Street. Gilgandra. - 056075-15NSW-RTR

The existing bitumen seal is approximately 20 years old and is starting to break up, causing pavement potholes. Crack sealing was done approximately 2 years ago.Correct any surface defects, potholes and small breakouts near kerb. Bitumen seal full width (12m) using 10mm aggregate.

University Way - 056077-15QLD-RTR

The proposed section has the following defects: extensive cracking including fatigue/crocodile craking and longitudinal cracks, deep depressions along the length of the road in the wheel paths. The existing asphalt surface is old, oxidised and brittle. There are major surface failures and moderate pavement failures.Pavement rehabilitation consisting of in-situ stabilisation of the existing pavement and placement of a new asphalt wearing surface including the installation of subsoil drainage.Total cost of proposed project is $547,670

Myrtle Street. Gilgandra. - 056078-15NSW-RTR

Myrtle Street is a well-used town street that had a full reconstruction last year through R2R. On completion of the earth works a bitumen primer seal was applied, primer seals have a life span of around 12 months, needs final seal to complete the reconstruction.Repair any pavement defects that may have appeared. Bitumen seal full width (12m) using 10mm aggregate.

Flinders Highway (Rural Road) - 056079-15SA-RTR

The current road base thickness, originally laid in the 1940s is grossly sub standard and almost non existant in places. The road is dangerous with rocky undulations, widespread pavement failures, narrow seal width with minimal shoulders and significant tree and cuttings hazards.The work proposed includes rehabilitation, widening and strengthening road pavement, removal of roadside hazards and drainage improvement to 2.9 kilometres of the Flinders Highway. Upgrade of the road to a minimum 7.2 metre seal, and where possible 8 metres, comprised 2 x 3.5 traffic lanes and a 0.5 metre sealed shoulder. Existing pavement will be upgraded with new material and stabilised to provide a suitable sub-base.Total cost of proposed project is $1,490,000
