Project description

The road receives a high level of local and tourist traffic utilising this section of road for access to Coconut Wells, beach locations and Willie Creek and requires maintenance grading throughout the year to ensure a suitable surface is maintained. The shire has received a number of requests to formalise the road to help reduce dust and on-going maintenance.

It is proposed to upgrade this section of road to a typical Shire of Broome bitumised pavement which will match the existing Lawrence Road profile.

This bridge is a concrete arch structure with significant spalling which exposes the steel reinforcing. there is also repair work required on the deck and guard railIt is proposed to undertake concrete repair work all the spalling to ensure the steel reinforcing is protected, carry out maintenance to the deck and repair and re paint the guard rail

The sections of Toongarra Road which adjoin to either end of this portion are undergoing reconstruction and upgrade works and this section remains of lower standard. This section of the road pavement is also in poor condition due to its age and needs to be reconstructed.Reconstruction and upgrade of a 180m section of road to a two lane road with lanes of 3.5m width. Works include pavement rehabilitation, shoulder widening, lighting, some drainage improvement, kerb and channeling and delineation.Total cost of proposed project is $1,388,548
