Project description

The current road surface suffers from cracking, stripping of the seal, drainage issues, poor vertical alignment with sight distance issues, poor line marking delineation and signage that is not representative to the road alignment and poor reflectivity. Alexander Avenue is sign posted 80 km/h, and have approximately 1000 vehicles/day with 4% commercial vehicles. The widening of Alexander Avenue, shoulders, new line marking and signage upgrade will improve the safety of this road section.

The work proposed includes widening and reconstructing of the 3320m road length of Alexander Avenue with a new pavement, seal, increased shoulder width, new ling marking and signage. At completion of the works, the sealed section will be increased from 6.0 m to 7.0m. The existing unformalised shoulder will be formalised (well compacted) at a width of 1.0 m each side.

Total cost of proposed project is $2,209,000
