Project description

The road is currently a sealed road requiring full pavement reconstruction to shoulders due to its narrow width, failed pavement and poor road and shoulder drainage. The road is a significant freight route which is vital to the area. The road surface suffers from heavy rutting and poor drainage. The road has a large amount of interaction between heavy vehicles and commuter vehicles with the widening of the road and shoulders improving safety.

The proposed works includes widening and reconstructing 16km of road shoulder to Kulkami Road and will consist of new pavement incorporating crushed rock base coarse to a depth of 300mm and a 2 coat bitumen spray seal . There will be an increase to the sealed width of Kulkami Road from 6 meters to 7.2 meters with a 1 meter unsealed shoulder giving an overall carriageway width of 9.2 meters.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,500,000
