Project description

The project will extend the seal on Maryvale Road by upgrading approximately 10.2km of unsealed road to a two-lane sealed standard.

Funding

The project total is $10,376,917 which is funded on an 80:20 split with the Australian Government contributing $8,301,534 and the Northern Territory Government contributing $2,075,383.

Timetable

Construction works commenced in May 2022 and were completed in January 2023.

the bridge is a road safety problem because it is narrow and the substructure and guardrail condition is of poor standardthe works involve substructure repairs, guardrail upgrade, widening and reinforced concrete overlay

Eskdale Road - 058533-15VIC-RTR

The road pavement, surface and kerb & channel have deteriorated over the years and holding stormwater at many sections of the road. There are signs of scraping of vehicle at the crossovers because of high crown. The road needs to be provided drainage as the road has very minimal drainage.The work involves reconstruction of kerb & channel and road pavement, providing 25mm asphalt surfacing and installation of new drainage along the street. The length of the road is 590m and the width is 8mTotal cost of proposed project is $1,085,000

Gorrie Dry River Road (Katherine Rural) - 058534-15NT-RTR

Gorrie Dry River road is is a significant beef road providing access to five large cattle stations. The road is currently experiencing very dry conditions, with very high road train usage for cattle transport. This heavy vehicle traffic has caused numerous sections of road to deteriorate into deep bull-dust.Widening and gravel resheeting from chainage 51.92 to 53.37 kilometres.

Ellerslie Panmure Road (rural road) - 058535-15VIC-RTR

The road pavement and surface has significantly deteriorated. There is substantial rutting and potholing along the length.The road will be fully rehabilitated, including the addition of pavement material and then a final seal.Total cost of proposed project is $1,200,000

Gorrie Dry River Road (Katherine Rural) - 058536-15NT-RTR

Gorrie Dry River Road is a significant beef road providing access to five large cattle stations. The road is currently experiencing very dry conditions, with very high road train usage for cattle transport. This heavy vehicle traffic has caused numerous sections of road to deteriorate into deep bull-dust.Reform and gravel resheet various sections from chainage 100 to 162 kilometres.

Gorrie Dry River Road (Katherine Rural) - 058537-15NT-RTR

Gorrie Dry River road is a significant beef road providing access to five large cattle stations. The water is impassable at the proposed sections of the road during the wet and becomes hazardous to pass. Construction of inverts will significantly improve the drainage.Construct three concrete inverts at the proposed three locations.
