Project description

Led by Rockhampton Regional Council, the project will improve safety and access, increase flood immunity, and reduce road closures via progressive upgrades along Glenroy Road near Rockhampton. Updates will also include pavement sealing and widening, and a new bridge at the Fitzroy River crossing.

The road varies in condition, from unsealed to dual lane, with the crossing at Fitzroy River currently single lane, in poor condition, with minimal flood immunity.

Glenroy Road is important for servicing agricultural developments, thus improving its useability will support current and developing industry by supporting freight movements, regional growth and connectivity, and improving safety for all road users.

Funding

Total funding of $25 million (Australian Government contribution $20 million, Queensland Government contribution $5 million).

Timetable
