The Beveridge Interstate Freight Terminal is in very close proximity to the Hume Highway – a key road freight corridor. Australian Government funding will support the delivery of key road upgrades to ensure there is a direct and efficient connection from the Hume Highway to the Beveridge terminal, ensuring the terminal can efficiently service double stacked 1.8km Inland Rail trains. This work will also reduce traffic congestion and support connectivity for the local community.
The proposed upgrades are expected to include:
New interchange on the Hume Highway at Camerons Lane
Delivery of upgrades to Minton Street and Beveridge Road
This investment by the Commonwealth is contingent on a funding contribution by the Victorian Government.
The Victorian Government’s long term freight strategy highlights the need for two new intermodal terminals, to be delivered in Melbourne – one in Beveridge in Melbourne’s north (delivered in time for Inland Rail services) and one in Truganina in Melbourne’s west.
Improved freight productivity
Reduced congestion and improved travel times
This investment by the Commonwealth towards the project is contingent on a funding contribution by the Victorian Government.
Estimated completion to align with the delivery of the Beveridge Interstate Freight Terminal.
