Project description

SRL East is the first section of the Suburban Rail Loop (SRL), delivering twin tunnels with six underground stations at Cheltenham, Clayton, Monash, Burwood, Glen Waverley and Box Hill – connecting Victorians to key employment and health precincts across east and south-east Melbourne.

Suburban Rail Loop will be transformational for Victoria and connect Victorians to key employment, education, retail and health precincts across east and south-east Melbourne.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $2.2 billion towards land acquisition, geotechnical and development works, and utility upgrades across the project area.

Timetable

SRL East began construction mid-2022 and is expected to be in operation by 2035.
