Project description

The pavement at Piriwal Street in Pelican is considered to have limited remaining with periodic maintenance. The deflection testing results, pavement inspection and treatment history indicate that the wearing course over the section of Piriwal Street has reached its design life. The pavement has limited remaining design life supported by the evidence of Benkelman beam results showing maximum characteristic deflections are under the design limit/tolerance and pavement investigation results indicate strong/hard subgrade material encountered. To extend the life of the road for the long term, rehabilitation is required. This road pavement is therefore a suitable candidate for stabilisation.

Insitu stabilisation of existing road pavement. Note: Construction of a new footpath will be undertaken concurrently with this project; however, related costs have been excluded from Council’s Roads to Recovery application.
