Project description

Major depressions, extensive seal rutting including longitudinal and block cracking caused by indifferent and poor subgrade settlement in existing road pavement. Pavement failure exacerbated by regular heavy vehicle movement of buses along this road. Stormwater is penetrating through badly cracked seal to the subgrade layers accelerating pavement deterioration.

Full pavement and seal reconstruction along 580 metre length and 10 metre width of road. Treatment works will incorporate a 600 millimetre thick pavement profile consisting of 400 millimetre of newly laid and compacted crushed rock with a 200 millimetre deep lift asphalt as the wearing course. Upgrade works will include new kerb and channel where necessary.
