Project description

The project will duplicate the two-lane section of the Cairns Western Arterial Road between Redlynch Connector Road and the Captain Cook Highway to a four-lane dual carriageway.

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $216 million and the Queensland Government $54 million.

Timetable

Planning commenced in September 2024 with early works expected to be completed in late 2025. The updated business case is expected to be completed in early 2026. The updated business case will confirm the scope, cost, benefits, risks and timeframes for the project.
