Project description

Cookamidgera Road is the main road link between Cookamidgera and Parkes and is currently unsealed. In the section of road that this project is identifying for an upgrade, it features tight substandard bends with sight distance problems and width to be corrected. This section also requires a dangerous crest to be reconstructed. These works will allow a new speed environment to be at least 80kph which will decrease travel times for all road users. This road gets damaged in heavy rainfall at an unformed causeway which will also be upgraded.

The project will involve sealing 1.3km of an existing unsealed road to a formation width of 9 meters with a minimum 8 metre seal, improve safety on substandard bends and crest reconstruction. The project also includes a concrete causeway reconstruction through high volume waterway mitigating the damage caused by flooding.

Total cost of proposed project is $1,999,178
