Project description

Road safety audit highlighted several safety issues on Scottville Road. New PBS heavy vehicles use the road to access the mine and the running lanes needed widening. The horizontal and vertical geometry was not to standard. Accesses into the cemetery and water treatment plant were not compliant. A pedestrian bridge was not connected to the Collinsville CBD and was only 1m wide so not DDA compliant.

The road was reconstructed to meet Austroads standards for geometry. The pavement was stabilised to avoid boxing out the whole length of road. Asphalt patches were used at accesses to ensure the bitumen seal was not damaged by heavy vehicles turning. The road pavement was widened with appropriate shoulder for the heavy vehicles. A new pedestrian bridge and footpath was constructed to connect the missing pathway link.

Total cost of proposed project is $2,200,000
