Project description

The project will deliver planning studies for outer metropolitan and regional passenger rail service extensions. This will include development of new corridors and reactivation of closed corridors.

- Linking regional locations on the ARTC standard gauge network with the broad gauge metropolitan passenger network.

- Aligning with the future development of a CBD underground loop to deliver a step change improvement in network coverage, performance and attraction.

- Support the State Government’s long-term vision to have liveable places connected by high-quality sustainable transport options.

Funding

 The Australian Government has committed $5 million to this project.

Timetable

 The project is expected to commence in late 2024 and will be completed by mid 2026.
