Project description

The Project will review and update the Gateway Motorway to Dohles Rocks Road Upgrade Business Case to support the increased capacity of the Pine River Bridge.

Benefits

Increased capacity, safety and reduced congestion on the Bruce Highway north of the Gateway Motorway and Gympie Arterial Road interchange

Funding

The Australian Government has committed $758 million towards the Project.

This project is funded with the Queensland Government on an 80:20 basis.

Timetable

The updated business case and planning commence in April 2025 and is expected to be completed in mid 2027.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
