Project description

This project will realign the two-lane, two-way Nelson Bay Road with upgrades to intersections at the eastern (Bobs Farm) and western (Williamtown) ends as well as an upgrade to the Lemon tree Passage connection. The design will enable the duplication of the alignment in the future should funding become available.

Benefits

This project will provide:- an alternative route between Williamtown and Bobs Farm;- a safer alignment for residents, businesses and the Nelson Bay community travelling to Newcastle Airport; - improved traffic flow; and- improved pedestrian and bicycle safety.

Funding

The Australian Government are committing $137.5 million to this project, bringing the total project cost to $275 million.

Timetable

Delivery timeframes will be determined in consultation with the New South Wales Government.
