Project description

Deteriorated road pavement and wearing surface due to aged pavement and heavy traffic volumes. An intersection upgrade is required to cater for projected growth and to address current congestion.

The overall project consists of the detailed design and construction upgrade of Gordon Street and Horton Street intersection from a roundabout to a signalised intersection. The project proposes to include new pavement works and line marking, new traffic signals, additional stormwater drainage and improved pedestrian crossing. The detailed design has now been completed, a Works Authorisation Deed (WAD) obtained from Transport for NSW and a contractor engaged to commence construction in August 2024. As the project is jointly funded, the balance will be paid by Council, including loan and reserves. With regard to the alternate funding sources • R2R funding as applied for • $254,663 development contributions, • $1,500,000 Loan • And the remainder is unexpended design/initiation phase funding carried forward from 2023/24

Total cost of proposed project is $3,118,258
