Project description

• The road pavement has exceeded its design life and begun to show signs of failure, that are beyond the scope of preventive maintenance. • The existing kerb and channel has been subjected to environmental movement and is holding water in a number of locations. • Investigations have also highlighted locations of failed sections of underground drainage that requires reconstruction and remediation.

• Reconstruction of the road pavement • Reconstruction of the kerb and channel on both sides of the road • Reconstruction of vehicle crossings • Reconstruction footpaths • Reconstruction Parking bays • Reconstruction of nature strips • Various methods of drainage remediation The balance of the funding for this project is being sourced form Council Cash, from the 2025/26 Road Reconstruction Program, which has been incorporated into Council’s Annual Plan and Budget for 2025/26 as approved and adopted by Council on 24th June 2025.

Ooldea Road, Maralinga Tjarutja (Rural Road) - 057363-15SA-RTR

This arterial dirt roads require regular maintenance and restoration work to rectify both natural deterioration & that caused by regular use. The road has severe to moderate potholing in various parts as well as significant corrugation and rutting. The road surface has become fragmented resulting in excessive loose gravel and other material. In addition some parts of the road are seriously overgrown with roadside vegetation and weeds growing through the road surface. These problems represent significant safety hazards for road users including Oak Valley community members, service providers, suppliers, mining workers, tourists and other travellers due to the poor condition of the road and increased risk of collision with camels and other large animals emerging from the overgrown parts of roadsides.Grading and other remedial work including filling holes, clearing roadside and road surface vegetation, re-widening, watering and rolling. Grading will commence at railway intersection of Ooldea road and Trans-Australian railway line to the Western Australian border. Proposed area graded is 310km

South Gippsland Highway - Leongatha Heavy Vehicle Alternate Route

This project involved the upgrade of the existing arterial road network and Long Street to provide a heavy vehicle bypass of the Leongatha town centre in south east Victoria.

Monash Freeway – Ferntree Gully Road to Gladstone Road Bridge Strengthening

The project strengthened eight bridges on the Monash Freeway from Ferntree Gully Road to Gladstone Road.

Western Freeway – Bacchus Marsh to Ballan Bridge Strengthening

The project involved the strengthening of four bridges on the Western Freeway from Bacchus Marsh to Ballan.

Western Highway – Kaniva to the South Australian Border Upgrade

The project upgraded 23km of the Western Highway from Kaniva to the South Australian Border by installing wire rope safety barriers at high risk locations, providing wide centrelines, tactile line marking, shoulder widening and delineation improvements.

NorthLink WA

NorthLink WA will provide a new transport link between Morley and Muchea, north of Perth. This project combines two adjacent Infrastructure Investment Program projects - the Central and Northern Sections (Swan Valley Bypass) and the Southern Section (Tonkin Highway Grade Separations). The Central and Northern Sections involve the construction of a new 37km highway from the intersection of the Tonkin and Reid Highways in Malaga to the Great Northern Highway at Muchea. The Central Section will run from Reid Highway to Ellenbrook, and the Northern Section will continue on from Ellenbrook to Muchea. This new route will replace the Great Northern Highway as the main freight route through the Swan Valley. The Southern Section involves upgrading the Tonkin Highway between Collier Road and Benara Road and construction of a single-point grade-separated interchange at Collier Road; construction of a grade-separated roundabout interchange at Morley Drive; and grade separation of the Benara Road intersection (with no connection to the Tonkin Highway).

Calder Freeway - Station Road Interchange Upgrades

The project involved the construction of two dual-lane roundabouts on Station Road at the intersection at each of the Calder Freeway access ramps at Gisborne/New Gisborne, Victoria.

Calder Highway - Jock Comini Rest Area Upgrade

This project involved the upgrade of an existing way side stop, located southbound on the Calder Highway at Ravenswood, to a formalised truck rest area with appropriate facilities.

Midland Highway Safety Works Package – Symmons Plains to South of Perth

The project has upgraded approximately 7.23km of the Midland Highway from Symmons Plains to South of Perth. The upgrade involved widening the existing highway through the provision of alternating lengths of 2 + 1 lane arrangements, improving the horizontal and vertical alignment and provided upgrades to the Woolmers Lane and Leighlands Secondary Road junctions.
