Project description

This route is critical for freight and community access, particularly supporting Nippy’s Fruit Juices and the town of Moorook. The road is currently narrow and in poor condition, posing safety risks. During the recent high river event, it served as the main detour due to flooding on Kingston Road. It will remain the primary alternative route in future flood events, highlighting the need for immediate upgrades to ensure safe and reliable access.

The project involves upgrading and widening Wachtel Road and Loxton Drive from 6.4 metres to 7.6 metres over a 2.5 km length to better accommodate heavy vehicles and increased traffic volumes. Works include shoulder widening, full resealing, and line marking. Additionally, relocation of services—including power poles—will be undertaken to enable road realignment at the Wachtel Road and Loxton Drive intersection. Council/s contribution: $482,000.00

Total cost of proposed project is $1,445,000
