Project description

Dalmore Road is currently in a much less than satisfactory asset condition, signs of heavy rutting/depression are observed, as are areas with corrugated cracks and changes in level of the road surface. High traffic volumes, heavy vehicle traffic, narrow sealed road width, and drainage issues are causing ongoing maintenance problems and potential for failure and closure of road.

Urgent repairs and reconstruction of road which include asphalt overlay and extensive patching. Full reconstruction in sections to address drainage issues.

The Gardens Road (Alice Springs Rural Road) - 059887-15NT-RTR

The Gardens Road services the pastoral, tourism, mining and indigenous community industries. The nearby Alice Springs to Darwin road rail crossing is currently being upgraded to 2 lane 7m wide seal, finishing at the existing narrow non-standard, single lane grid. The upgrade of the grid and drainage is a safety issue.It is proposed to raise the grid to allow drainage to occur, widen the grid to standard 9.6 metre width, raise the road approaches and build fence on both sides of the grid for traffic safety.
