Project description

Approximately 3 km of the existing sealed Bangate Road will be widened. The works will be carried out symmetrically from the road centreline. A 2 m wide strip on each side of the road will be treated. This includes cutting 1 m into the existing pavement and constructing an additional 1 m widening beyond the current road edge. The full 2 m width on each side will then be prepared by placing a 100 mm layer of gravel. This layer, together with the existing material, will be stabilised to a depth of 200 mm using a tri-blend stabilising agent. Following stabilisation, the surface will be trimmed to the required levels and finished for sealing. A primer seal will then be applied using 14 mm precoated aggregate, followed by a 7 mm aggregate scatter coat to ensure proper interlock and surface finish.
