Mutawintji Road (Rural Road) - 124362-23NSW-RTR
Some sections of Mutawintji Rd are in poor condition with little to no gravel left on the road. As a result, these sections are suspectable to becoming impassable during periods of wet weather, cutting off remote communities’ access to the regional centre of Broken Hill. This project looks to address this issue by reshaping the formation and reconstructing the road with gravel. This project consists of 3.4km of the road in extremely poor condition. This will significantly reduce the length of time that communities are cut off from the regional centre. Some minor grading works have occurred at this location in the past, but a larger intervention is now needed to return the road to acceptable functionality. The work would include the following - Reshape the formation to help build the pavement to help facilitate drainage - Gravel overlay of 150mm of DGS20 conforming to 3051 TfNSW Specification - Install table drain where required, with batter approximately 4 to 1 - Install minor floodways at required locations - Install appropriate signage (eg water level markers) - Removal of vegetation verge and batters - Pavement would 7m in width when complete
Parrakie North Road, Marama - 124374-23SA-RTR
Base material has work down on the existing service. The road is too narrow in places and has water pooling on the road verges.Re-sheet 7km of the road from the intersection of Godden Road (Council Boundary) and heading in a North Westerly direction towards Marama for 7km. The road will be 7 metres wide with 150mm thick of rubble. Minor realignment of the road with construction of appropriate drainage on the road verges to allow for water run off.Total cost of proposed project is $400,000
Parsons Court, Leeming, WA - 124384-23WA-RTR
Road beginning to fail in various sections. Road surface is old and rough and needs resurfacing.Rehabilitation of select number of sections along the road that are currently failing. The works is to be undertaken aa part of a more general upgrade that will include resurfacing and kerb replacements.Total cost of proposed project is $29,575
Merryanbone Road (Rural Road) - 052905-14NSW-RTR
Existing poor quality gravel pavement is allowing water infiltration and deformation of pavement shape.Reform a 4 km total length of existing pavement and resheet with a 100mm depth of good quality crushed rock.
Reardon Court, Leeming, WA - 124383-23WA-RTR
Road beginning to fail in various sections. Road surface is old and rough and needs resurfacing.Rehabilitation of select number of sections along the road that are currently failing. The works is to be undertaken as part of a more general upgrade that may include resurfacing of the roadway and kerb replacements.Total cost of proposed project is $29,575
Old South Road, Mittagong - 124385-23NSW-RTR
Road is in a deteriorated state due to poor pavement material and lack of drainage controls. Roads is suffering extreme rutting, delamination of seal and shoving.Pavement rehabilitation through lime/cement stabilisation, with imported material on top and a two coat seal wearing surface applied.Total cost of proposed project is $2,000,000
Wentworth Road, Strathfield - 124412-23NSW-RTR
Pavement slab subsidence, major surface cracking and surface roughness.Concrete road pavement slab repairs and asphalt re-sheeting to rehabilitate pavement, improve ride safety and extend the life of the asset.
Ferguson Road, Dardanup - 124336-23WA-RTR
Road seal has degraded due to its age and use, requiring reconstruction and resealing.Continue to reconstruct and reseal bitumen road. The works were not able to be fully completed in the previous year due to cost escalation and scope.Total cost of proposed project is $120,000
Seppeltsfield Road (Rural Road) - 124407-23SA-RTR
The road requires a full pavement rehabilitation and widening due to the observed width and shape issues, reconstruction of the wearing surface due to the aging spray seal giving lessor traction as well as no longer providing adequate water proofing. The significant amount of interaction seen between heavy vehicles and commuter/tourist traffic causing road geometry/width upgrades to be a much-required safety improvement. There are also significant stormwater issues adjacent the Seppeltsfield Winery due to the lack of formal stormwater infrastructure. Stormwater is seen to run along the edge of the seal causing additional damage, pond in poorly graded sections and ultimately spill into private property in the more extreme events. The formalisation of stormwater management, through the inclusion of kerb and pipes etc. is critical through this sectionThe proposed project works include pavement rehabilitation/reconstruction including localised road widening. Kerb and gutter reconstruction in areas. Local Area Traffic Management devices to manage the contrast between speed and road dimensions to promote a safer road environment. The pavement rehabilitation/reconstruction is proposed to include pavement thickening to accommodate the current traffic loadings and those anticipated in conjunction with the approved developments of the Seppeltsfield Winery, including heavy vehicle movements. The typical desired cross-section for the upgrade is proposed to include: 3.5 m wide lanes with 2 m wide shoulders (1 m sealed, 1 m unsealed) in each direction, or on-street parking and kerb and gutter, where applicable adjacent Seppeltsfield Winery as is existing. The preliminary pavement design indicating a pavement thickness with a thin bituminous surface of between 440 and 470 mm and a 40 mm asphalt wearing surface is proposed. The desired road widening, to the full desired width will prove challenging in some areas of this proposed section of Seppeltsfield Road, due to the State Heritage Date Palms lining Seppeltsfield Road. As such, in these width limited areas the use of Local Area Traffic Management devices is proposed, promoting a lower speed environment. Allowing the utilisation of 3.0 m wide traffic lanes. It is also proposed to request the Department for Infrastructure and Transport to approve the lower posted speed limit in these areas to 50 km/hr. The inclusion of formal stormwater management infrastructure, such as kerb and gutter is also proposed to be installed in areas of high flow rates and limited existing infrastructure.Total cost of proposed project is $2,100,000
Billiatt Road (Rural Road) - 124408-23SA-RTR
Koolunga Road was constructed over 20 plus years ago and sealed 7m wide to accommodate the vehicles of the day. Access by road trains has resulted in significant edge break damage encroaching up to 300mm into the travel lanes. Significant rutting is also occurring in the outer wheel path causing stormwater to pool and creating a hazard for motorist. Council is incurring significant costs yearly undertaking repairs and fighting a losing battle to maintain the width of the sealed surface. The road is a critical community access route linking the townships of Koolunga and Brinkworth, where many children from Koolunga attend the preschool located at the Brinkworth Primary School. It is also a significant tourist route, popular with Gray Nomads following the old broad-gauge rail lines and traversing to the Flinders Rangers. Many of these visitors stay at the RV site located within Brinkworth. The road currently carries an average of 260 vpd during the peak harvest season at an average of 54 heavy vehicles and 190vpd outside of the peak period. The work proposed includes stabilisation 3m wide, 150mm deep on each side of Koolunga Road from the centre of the travel lane. The seal will be widened from the existing 7m to 8.5m by applying a two coat 14/7mm C170 spray seal on the 5.05km section of Koolunga Road from the end of the kerb and water table at the Brinkworth township heading north to Boucaut Road. Line marking will include centre and edge lines to help prevent heavy vehicles from straying off the sealed surface.Total cost of proposed project is $810,000
