Old Narrabri Rd, Narrabri - 129306-24NSW-RTR
Tulla Mullen Creek Bridge is located along the unsealed Old Narrabri Road approximately 9.8 km south of the Turrawan Road intersection. The bridge is approximately 25 km south of the Narrabri township. The existing timber bridge is 23.4 m long with a trafficable width of 4.8 m and a load limit of 12 tonnes. The existing bridge is in very poor condition with rotting timber decking and there is section loss of some planks. Connection bolts are missing in some locations. There is a settlement defect at the western approach causing a step. The structure does not have a vehicle restraint barrier and as such does not meet code requirements ultimately putting road users at risk. The single lane bridge is used by heavy vehicles from surrounding agricultural properties and an adjacent gravel quarry. The bridge is subject to flooding. This project will replace the single lane timber bridge structure with a longer dual lane concrete structure that is 48 m long and 9 m wide to support the use of modern heavy vehicles, improve the serviceability of the bridge and provide safer access for passenger vehicles. Transport for NSW are funding the balance of the project $2,342,500.Total cost of proposed project is $2,392,500
