Kuerschner Road, (rural road) - 105459-19SA-RTR
Surface material erosion and drainage problems with clay exposed leading to a rough surface which is slippery when wet.Rip and reform, cart and spread crushed rubble materials to reform the road surface and increase traffic safety during wet and dry conditions.
Stormlea Road, Highcroft - 105464-19TAS-RTR
Until recently, this gravel road was only used by local residents and for general access to the National Park. The volumes of traffic have increased dramatically; in particular hire cars and tourist buses which in turn have created safety issues for all road users due to inadequate road width. Constant grading maintenance needs to be mitigated and being a small Council, financial resources are limited for this to continue. With visitor numbers still increasing to our area, the level of service expectation is also high. This road leads to three significant tourist attractions on the Tasman Peninsula - Shipstern Bluff (world renoun surfing break); the Tasman National Park; and the new Three Capes Walk of which Cape Raoul can be accessed at the very end of this road. The work proposed will extend the current continued conversion of this road from gravel to sealed with additional widening & drainage improvements. The first 2.6 kms will be converted to a full width seal with the remaining 3.5 kms being of a narrower width seal. The RTR funding will used to seal the remaining 270 metres which is 180 metres short of Halls Road intersection off Stormlea Road - this will enable Council to seal past the last residential property along the road for their safety and dust elimination.Total cost of proposed project is $632,345
