Old Pacific Highway, Pimpama - 137797-25QLD-RTR
The Mebbin Street and Old Pacific Highway intersection in Pimpama is currently a three-way priority-controlled intersection. Old Pacific Highway carries approximately 12,000 vehicles per day, while Mebbin Street carries approximately 8,000 vehicles per day. Mebbin Street provides access to a growing residential catchment and the intersection is constrained by the rail bridge located approximately 100 metres east of the intersection. Increased traffic volumes have contributed to peak period congestion, longer queues, and difficulties for motorists making right-turn movements from Mebbin Street onto Old Pacific Highway. To address these issues, the City is undertaking a signalisation and safety upgrade of the intersection to improve traffic flow, road safety and pedestrian accessibility. Scope of works includes: • Installing traffic signals at the Mebbin Street and Old Pacific Highway intersection • Upgrading stormwater drainage, street lighting, and associated roadworks • Constructing new pathways, kerb ramps and cycle transition ramps to meet safety and Disability Discrimination Act 1992 (DDA) requirements.
