Project description

The proposed upgrade of the existing bridge is in response to the bridge reaching its end of life cycle and requires replacement. The existing bridge structure is of a narrow two lane, timber deck with a steel substructure. The bridge is too narrow and does not allow for vehicles to safely pass each other. There is currently a reduced load limit and speed limit imposed on the bridge for safety reasons.

Replacement of the existing timber bridge structure including widening of existing road pavement at the approaches, bridge road pavement overlay, gaurdrails and precast concrete bridge. The recently completed Shands road upgrade was completed in 2014.
