Ageing pavement with significant rutting, shoving, pavement failures and drainage problems presenting traffic safety issues as this road is a rural collector road connecting the villages of Millfield, Paxton and Ellalong to Leggetts Drive (state road) leading to M1 motorway.Reconstruct and widen with provision of appropriate road drainage with 9.4 metre wide carriageway.Total cost of proposed project is $529,592
Existing seal was in a poor condition and pavement was damaged due to poor subgrade combined with water seepage into the subgrade. Reconstructing this road with stormwater drainage will improve the driving condition of this collector road to improve access through this road.• New stormwater drainage works, new table drain and kerb and channel works
• Removal of existing pavement and lime stabilise subgrade treatment
• Pavement construction and two coats sealingTotal cost of proposed project is $916,930
Existing unsealed road with insufficient drainage. This road generates dust issues in the dry season, and ponds water during rain events.Formalising road formation and sealing existing road including pavement works, edge treatment and drainage.
Existing timber bridge is no longer structurally sound and has a load limit of 5 tonnes which is inadequate for the current trafficRefurbishment/replacement of existing 31.5m timber bridgeTotal cost of proposed project is $707,652
This collector road carries approximately 57 vehicles per day and an alternative route from Dalveen to Warwick during instances of accidents along the New England Highway. The road is narrow (3.8 metre width), winding and has crests along this section of the road. There is potential for accidents. Also the road width is not enough for two vehicles to pass each other as the gravel shoulders rutted (smaller dips) within this chainages. Widening this section of the road will improve safety and reduce travel time.• Road widening works to accommodate two lanes. This will improve driver safety and reduce travel time.
