Richmond Road Upgrade
The Richmond Road Master Plan has identified a range of upgrades to provide a safer and more consistent road environment between Cambridge and Richmond. The project is expected to include shoulder widening to priority locations along Richmond Road, specifically from Prickly Hollow Bridge to the intersection at Grasstree Hill Road.
Bridge Strengthening Upgrades
The project will involve the strengthening or demolition of bridges on key routes identified for priority upgrades. The project is expected to improve the safety of bridges for the community and ensure local freight operators can continue to safely and efficiently move products around the state.
Electronic School Zone Signs
This project supplied, installed and commissioned approximately 200 new Electronic School Zone Speed Limit Signs along with a new Network Management System to manage the upgraded signs remotely.
Heavy Vehicle Rest Areas
This project will include the expansion of existing rest stop areas and the construction of new rest stop areas, including the upgrade of the existing weighbridge site on the Bass Highway near Howth and a new rest area on the East Tamar Highway/Bridport Main Road.
Roadside Barriers
The project upgraded roadside barriers at various locations on the state road network.
Western Freeway between Woodmans Hill to Dowling Road, Miners Rest Safety Improvements
This project will install guard fences and wire rope safety barriers on the Western Freeway north of Ballarat. Upgrades will occur on both sides of the Adelaide-bound carriageway from the Midland Highway to Dowling Road, and both sides of the Melbourne-bound carriageway from Dowling Road to Lofven Street. This section of the Western Highway is heavily trafficked, seeing a significant volume of inter-regional trips and a large number of commercial and heavy vehicles. The upgrades also include Miners Rest Safety Improvements.
Thompson Road, North Geelong
This project will include the installation of road safety improvements along Thompson Road, including upgrades to the intersection of Darebin Road and Thompson Road, improvements to pedestrian facilities, formalisation of the corridor as a two-lane two-way road, and planning work to identify further road safety improvements.
Various Rural Intersection Safety Upgrades
This project will involve various safety treatments at 30 high-speed and high-risk intersections that have a high rate of casualty crashes and are located on strategically important roads. The upgrades are expected to include installation of turning lanes, splitter islands, street lighting and raised platforms.
Bussell Highway Duplication - Stages 1 and 2
The Bussell Highway Duplication project will construct a dual carriageway between Capel and Busselton and be delivered in the following stages:Stage 1: construct a 5 km long extension of the existing dual carriageway to the south of Hutton Road, including the Tuart Drive intersectionStage 2: construct a 12 km long extension of the existing dual carriageway from Hutton Road to south of Sabina River
