Bitumen surface is showing signs of distressReseal to extend life by a further 10 years or so
Road was originally constructed in 1970 and was resheeted with a 40mm overlay in 1998. This section of Hughes Parade is a strategic freight route within the municipality and is the only viable access road between industrial properties in Reservoir and the Metropolitan Ring Road (M80). Over time and with higher than anticipated heavy vehicle use the condition has significantly deteriorated and the road is now in need of reconstruction. Road is experiencing extensive rutting and crocodile cracking from greater than design levels of crocodile cracking. It is proposed to undertake a full reconstruction of the road (subject to pavement tests) to provide a pavement that is designed to withstand current and projected heavy vehicle volumes.Total cost of proposed project is $320,166
