Aged timber bridge with many failing components.Replacement with concrete structure.Total cost of proposed project is $753,988
Timber Bridge in poor condition.Replacement with concrete structure.Total cost of proposed project is $1,134,031
Formation of the road and the gravel surface has disappeared of recent years due to wear and traffic.Reinstate road formation and resheet road with local gravel, this includes construction of earth table drains and diversion drains as required.Total cost of proposed project is $64,000
Addressing poor pavement surface, repairing minor potholing, edge break and drop. Resealing will create a waterproof membrane to extend the life of the road pavement for approximately 10 years to get ahead of the maintenance backlog, and prevent this section of road requiring full rehabilitation.Pot hole patching and resealing for a total length of 1.8km

The use of Baldry – Peak Hill Road has increased significantly in recent years. The average daily traffic (ADT) volume on this route is 49 vehicles, of which 10% are heavy vehicles. This is an 88% increase from the previous traffic count conducted twelve months earlier in 2019.
Baldry – Peak Hill Road provides eastern access to the neighbouring agricultural area of Cabonne Shire, which for local freight leads on to the port of Newcastle via Baldry. It is also the western link to the Newell Highway from Baldry, the major inland freight route between Brisbane and Melbourne.
The current road is unsealed, with poor pavement conditions and narrow width, leading to inefficiencies in freight movements. There is no current commitment for any significant upgrade or plan to seal the pavement. With many poorly drained sections along the length, it becomes impassable with above-average rainfall as culverts regularly exceed capacity. There is also frequent damage to the pavement, which without intervention will continue to be incurred after each significant rain event. The project involves widening and overlay of the existing unsealed pavement with bitumen sealing and improvements of longitudinal and cross drainage upgrades and other road safety related issues for approx.
5km length to provide access for Higher Productivity Vehicles.
Peak Hill - Baldry Road features tight substandard bends with sight distance
problems and width to be corrected throughout this scope.
This identified section also requires a dangerous "S" bend to be reconstructed. These works will allow a new speed environment to be at least 80kph which will decrease travel times for all road users.Total cost of proposed project is $3,384,759
This project was withdrawn through the 2023-24 Mid-Year Economic Financial Outlook process with road safety improvement works completed to date including tree trimming, targeted shoulder sealing and minor intersection improvements on River Road.
