This section of road is only 200 metres long .It is very wide and now takes B Triple and AA road trans .Over the last 3 years we have had 2 large trucking companies relocate to this area as well as an existing one .DPTI have allowed for increase in truck lengths and combinations that access this road and it is estimated that some 120 trucks operate from this area.
Extra traffic on the road has caused rapid wear on the surface. This proposal is for a SAM 2 coat seal using 14/7 aggregate .Due to high demand applications of bitumen and stone will require extra material and laying costs
This Road is now failing due to wearing of aggregate creating pot holes and edge breaks .Reseal works will reduce maintenace costs increasing safety for all road users and Maintenance staff. Resealing this year will prevent ongoing wear damage to the pavement.Reseal using a 10mm aggregate and a SAM binder.
Existing road below current Road Engineering Standards including sub-standard pavement width, gravel shoulders and open table drains, no kerb and channel, no underground drainage, inadequate pedestrian and bicycle facilities and limited street lightingPavement rehabilitation, pavement widening, underground stormwater constructions, kerb and channel, and improvements to bicycle and pedestrian facilities
Distorted road surface and narrow pavementRehabilitate and widen 700 metres of Little River Road by adding 100mm DGB20 to the road, stabilising the existing pavement and applying a 10mm primerseal
Existing seal is well past reseal date, narrow and is in poor condition with corrugations and potholes. This road is a connecting route for local traffic and grain/heavy haulage vehicles. It is also a school bus route for both the Broomehill primary and Katanning high school.Reconstruct approximately 3 kilometres of this road for seal to width of 7 metres
Seal 300 metres of existing gravel surface to alleviate dust problems to the adjacent Caravan Park and prevent slippery and dangerous conditions for road users in wet weather. Sealing this section will enhance the amenity of the area surrounding the Caravan Park and for residents living in this areaConstruction of existing gravel pavement and seal to existing width.
Sealing of existing gravel pavement to improve conditions for local traffic and reduce dust problems for residential propertiesSeal existing gravel pavement to 7.0 metres
Loss of gravel pavement over time has resulted in a corrugated and slippery surface that is difficult to maintainSupply, place and compact 100mm of gravel to the existing alignment and width
Lack of gravel, surface rutting, poor shape and inadequate drainage. It is proposed to rectify the problems with this section of road by installing additional mitre drains and cleaning the existing drains. The road will then be tyned and re-shaped. Following this new gravel will be imported, spread and compacted. The road will then be trimmed to its final shape.
