This is a local road in a prime residential area, schools, university, church and it is a busy road. There is major issues on riding quality and concrete pavement roughness issue, water seepageOverlaying with AC 14 and crack seal for the concrete slab joints for 95.0 m x 12.0 m(average width)
Re line marking over the AC 14 surface
The existing bitumen seal is approximately 20 years old and is starting to break up causing pavement potholes, shoving of the outer wheel paths and edge break. patching done in recent years. In several locations the stone has stripped off indicating that the binder (bitumen) is losing its adhesiveness.Correct any surface defects such as potholes and shoves, maintenance grade the shoulders, import gravel to reshape & widen shoulders where necessary, and then bitumen seal to a width of 6m using 14mm aggregate.
The existing concrete causeway has developed lateral cracks above the concrete pipe and is structurally unsafe. The width of the culvert is also a concern due to the increasing amount of heavy vehicles travelling on this section of road.Remove existing structure and replace with a multi cell concrete box culvert, reshape causeway and reconstruct approaches to suit new levels.
The existing bitumen seal on this section of road is aproxamatly 15 years old and has started to strip in several locations which has caused potholes and shoves. The bitumen seal on the edges are wearing into the travel way causing loss of base material and shoulder formation.Correct any surface defects such as potholes and shoves and apply bitumen seal to a width of six meters with 14mm aggregate.
Bitumen and seal failures due to age of pavement surface, potholes and deterioration of the edges is substantial creating a hazard for traffic, especially in wet conditions. The vegetation will also need to be cleared on either side of the road .Box out failing areas on the proposed locations, compact subgrade and import new gravel base. Install new gravel on a thickness of minimum 150mm, level and compact.
Rebuild shoulders where the edges are failing by importing gravel to create a uniform 10m width formation
Install a primerseal with 5mm stones on all reworked areas within the sealed width of pavement, followed by an application of C170 bitumen and a 14/7mm aggregate
All guide posts and signage will be reinstated when the work is finished.Total cost of proposed project is $112,809
This section of road is low lying and requires targeted forming and sheeting to raise the road above natural surface level. The existing road in unsealed becomes dusty, corrugated and turns to bull dust in the summer and impassable at various locations following minor rainfall events. The work will involve forming and sheeting of targeted sections with raised rocks. Sheeting will be a 200mm in depth with a carriageway width of 8 metres and table drains on each side of the road.
This is a very high traffic road. The current road seal is deteriorated and showing significant cracking and wear allowing water seepage to weaken the structure of the road. Norrie Avenue is a key heavy vehicle route.Council is proposing to reinstate the existing seal with 35mm hotmix overlay and some pavement patching and kerb replacement as necessary.
Lack of gravel, surface rutting, poor shape and inadequate drainage. It is proposed to rectify the problems with this section of road by installing additional mitre drains and cleaning the existing drains. The road will then be tyned and re-shaped. Following this new gravel will be imported, spread and compacted. The road will then be trimmed to its final shape.
Nicholls road has been subjected to an increase of vehicle movements associated with the increase in horticultural activities. Large trucks are using this road more frequently . This has caused the bitumen surface to break down more rapidly . The road now has severe edge breaks-surface cracking and general lose of aggregate. This creates a major problem for maintenance works and can damage fresh produce being transported along the roadCouncil propose to repair roadside shoulder ,trim roadside vegetation and carry out a complete 2 coat bitumen reseal over the entire area.
Murtho road is a high maintenance road caused by increases in vehicle traffic, and aging infrastructure .We experience regular potholing and edge break aways. New works will reduce the maintence cost ,making roads safer for all users and assist Council in achiving maximum life from our pavement.Works will consist of minor shoulder re-alignment and a combination of single and two coat bitumen seal.
