Due to unplanned significant increase in heavy vehicle movements associated with a new mine in construction phase, the entire work area has suffered premature wear and erosion with some sections requiring a full reconstruction. This road has been closed to heavy vehicles since October 2018 as a result.Medium to heavy grade from straight line kilometre 1.58 to 91.60 . There are several sections within the work area that require a full reconstruction and gravel re-sheet. These sections include straight line kilometres 4.66 to 7.00, straight line kilometre 34.10 to 34.74, straight line kilometre 66.09 to 66.27 and straight line kilometre 66.77 to 70.92.Total cost of proposed project is $477,267
Poor existing pavement condition, seal condition, vegetation, edge drops, crocodiling cracks, pot holes.Reconstruction of pavement and seal surface, clearing of vegetation, cleaning of table drains, shoulder resheeting , edge repair and pot holes repair.
Resheeting of gravel surface which breaks up with heavy trafficGravel Resheeting of 4km at 11m wide
These sections of road are currently in poor condition with loss of gravel causing corrugations and roughnessIt is proposed to gravel resheet sections of road to a 7 metre pavement widthTotal cost of proposed project is $682,284
The existing bitumen seal is starting to break up, causing pavement potholes, edge break and drop off. There is also severe longitudinal and lateral cracking happening. Road shoulders need regrading.Correct any surface defects, potholes/shoves, maintenance grade the shoulders, import gravel to reshape & widen shoulders where necessary, and then bitumen seal to a width of 5.6m using 14mm aggregate.
Rutting, Depression and breakdown of sealed surfaceRip and break up existing surface then add 300mm gravel and seal with a 14/7mm two coat seal
Stripping of aggrate crackingReseal with a 10mm Stress Alleviating Membrane seal
pavement is damaged, seal is worn, surface drainage is poor, kerbing is damaged, extensive pre-seal repairs including patching, pavement repairs, replace damaged kerbing, followed by re-seal
Rutting, Lack of gravel, PotholesRe sheet road with 150mm of sandstone gravel
