The project undertook planning for the proposed bypasses at Beaufort and Ararat. The project identified the preferred alignments and undertook public consultations to allow for the bypasses to be constructed in the future. The project is complemented by two other projects, the Beaufort Bypass Preconstruction project and the Ararat Bypass Preconstruction project, which will complete all planning processes and commence preconstruction activities for both sites.

Existing seal varies in width from 3.6 m to 5.8 m wide and pavement has failed in several locations. The narrow seal has significant edge break as a result of heavy traffic driving off the edge of seal when passing approaching traffic.Road formation will be widened to 10 m and sealed to 7.5 m wide. Failed areas of pavement will be reconstructed and remaining areas of existing seal will be resealed. Balance of funds being provided by Transport for NSW Fixing Local Roads program.Total cost of proposed project is $3,780,263
