Major Projects Business Case Fund

The Major Projects Business Case Fund (MPBCF) initiative supports the development of robust major project business cases for nationally significant projects and enables the Commonwealth to engage early with states and territories in planning processes to ensure broader Commonwealth objectives are considered as projects are developed.

In the 2023-24 Budget, the Australian Government committed an additional $200 million over 2 years into the MPBCF.

Your submission, including any personal information supplied, is being collected by the department for the purpose of seeking public and industry comment on the approach and content of its proposed cost estimation guidance, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Submissions, in part or full, including the name of the author may be published on the department's website or in the Government's response, unless the submission is confidential. Submissions will only be treated as confidential if they are expressly stated to be confidential. Confidential submissions will be kept securely and will only be disclosed in the following circumstances:

  • in response to a request by a Commonwealth Minister;

The department may also disclose confidential submissions within the Commonwealth of Australia, including with other Commonwealth agencies, where necessary in the public interest.

Please note that in order to protect the personal privacy of individuals in accordance with the Privacy Act any submissions containing sensitive information, personal information or information which may reasonably be used to identify a person or group of people may not be published, even if not marked as confidential.

President Street, Welshpool - 058415-15WA-RTR
Medium to high level rutting due to heavy vehicle axle loading, patching and 50% – 60% cracking. Kerbing dislodged in some sections.Apply thin of layer corrector course where required and overlay with 40mm SMA asphalt. Kerbing to be replaced on both sides of the carriageway
Newman Street (Carnamah Townsite) - 058417-15WA-RTR
Pavement has deteriated and Council has decided to asphalt the road and correct drainage faults at the same timeAsphalt from 0.00 straight line kilometers to 0.19 straight line kilometers on Newman Street
Conjuboy Road (Rural Road) - 058422-15QLD-RTR
This section of gravel road is badly corrugated. The terrain is rough with many bends and dips leading to a high incidence of re-corrugating.It is proposed to grade and regravel the section using gravel stabilised with an emulsion additive. The floodways will be stabilised with a cement additive.
Hicks Street, Charters Towers - 058423-15QLD-RTR
The headwaters from Columbia Creek currently run through residential properties.To install kerb and channel on the south side of Hicks Street to direct water flow into the stormwater drainage system.
Tabletop Road, Hervey Range - 058424-15QLD-RTR
Two Mile Creek runs around Tabletop Road. Flooding occurs in adjacent residential properties along both Tabletop Road and Fryers Road.It is proposed to install culverts under Tabletop Road to improve drainage in the area.
Horton Road (Rural Road) - 058426-15NSW-RTR
Existing bitumen seal is aged and has become oxidised and cracked, allowing moisture ingress.Full width reseal with hot bitumen and aggregate to seal the pavement from moisture ingress and restore the surface of the road.
