Major Projects Business Case Fund

The Major Projects Business Case Fund (MPBCF) initiative supports the development of robust major project business cases for nationally significant projects and enables the Commonwealth to engage early with states and territories in planning processes to ensure broader Commonwealth objectives are considered as projects are developed.

In the 2023-24 Budget, the Australian Government committed an additional $200 million over 2 years into the MPBCF.

Your submission, including any personal information supplied, is being collected by the department for the purpose of seeking public and industry comment on the approach and content of its proposed cost estimation guidance, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Your personal information will be stored securely by the department. It may be used by the department to make further contact with you about the consultation process. Your personal information will not be disclosed to any other third parties, except in the circumstances outlined below.

Submissions, in part or full, including the name of the author may be published on the department's website or in the Government's response, unless the submission is confidential. Confidential submissions (including author name) will not be published. Private addresses and contact details will not be published or disclosed to any third parties unless required by law.

Submissions will only be treated as confidential if they are expressly stated to be confidential. Automatically generated confidentiality statements or disclaimers appended to an email do not suffice for this purpose. If you wish you make a confidential submission, you should indicate this by ensuring your submission is marked confidential.

Confidential submissions will be kept securely and will only be disclosed in the following circumstances:

  • in response to a request by a Commonwealth Minister;
  • where required by a House or a Committee of the Parliament of the Commonwealth of Australia; or where required by law.

The department may also disclose confidential submissions within the Commonwealth of Australia, including with other Commonwealth agencies, where necessary in the public interest.

Please note that in order to protect the personal privacy of individuals in accordance with the Privacy Act any submissions containing sensitive information, personal information or information which may reasonably be used to identify a person or group of people may not be published, even if not marked as confidential.

McLachlan Street - 063494-16VIC-RTR
Stabilisation of the embankment supporting the road at the intersection of McLachlan and Walker Streets in Northcote. Road is built on fill that was placed there in the 1920s and is beginning to collapse. Road connects to a bridge across the Merri Creek which is the primary pedestrian access to the local train station.Stabilisation of embankment as per geotechnical engineer's recommendations (construction of a reinforced earth retaining wall). Reconstruction of road pavement, footpath and kerbing. Works to repair/replaced damaged/displaced underground drainage. Construction of a raised pedestrian crossing for pedestrians and cyclists accessing Rushall Station via the footbridge.Total cost of proposed project is $804,566
Semmler Rd (Rural Road) - 063495-16NSW-RTR
loss of gravel, poor conditionresheet the road for 2km length. Add 150mm gravel to width of 6 metres
Cambell Grove - 063496-16VIC-RTR
Complete failure of road pavement due to heavy vehicle movements. Kerb and channel holding water. Footpaths in generally poor condition.Full rehabilitation of road pavement, kerb & channel and footpaths. Works to include pavement strengthening, reconstruction and asphalt resurfacing.Total cost of proposed project is $179,425
Mumbledool Station Rd (Rural Road) - 063498-16NSW-RTR

Cornwall Street - 063499-16VIC-RTR
Road surface is in poor condition. Issues with pedestrian safety, particularly at the Westgarth Street intersection. Street drainage is adversely affected by the lack of fall along the length of the street.Rehabilitation of road including reconstruction of road pavement, resurfacing and construction of mid-block island and entry threshold treatment along with associated drainage works/improvements.Total cost of proposed project is $427,175
Simpson Street - 063500-16VIC-RTR

Gold Gully Road was a narrow gravel formation that is used as a school bus route and is slippery in winter and dusty in summer.It has now been constructed and primer sealed to 6metres wideComplete a final seal on previous years work
Chalwell Road, (Rural Road) - 063514-16WA-RTR
Chalwell Road is a 4 metre gravel road that has water springs appearing in it during winter and is a school bus route which is very slippery.Clear widen and construct a 6metre wide bitumen Road for 500 meters
