Major Projects Business Case Fund

The Major Projects Business Case Fund (MPBCF) initiative supports the development of robust major project business cases for nationally significant projects and enables the Commonwealth to engage early with states and territories in planning processes to ensure broader Commonwealth objectives are considered as projects are developed.

In the 2023-24 Budget, the Australian Government committed an additional $200 million over 2 years into the MPBCF.

Your submission, including any personal information supplied, is being collected by the department for the purpose of seeking public and industry comment on the approach and content of its proposed cost estimation guidance, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Your personal information will be stored securely by the department. It may be used by the department to make further contact with you about the consultation process. Your personal information will not be disclosed to any other third parties, except in the circumstances outlined below.

Submissions, in part or full, including the name of the author may be published on the department's website or in the Government's response, unless the submission is confidential. Confidential submissions (including author name) will not be published. Private addresses and contact details will not be published or disclosed to any third parties unless required by law.

Submissions will only be treated as confidential if they are expressly stated to be confidential. Automatically generated confidentiality statements or disclaimers appended to an email do not suffice for this purpose. Confidential submissions will be kept securely and will only be disclosed in the following circumstances:

  • in response to a request by a Commonwealth Minister;

The department may also disclose confidential submissions within the Commonwealth of Australia, including with other Commonwealth agencies, where necessary in the public interest.

Considerable pavement failure along with sub-surface drainage issues due to poor soil conditions. Extensive cracking and deformation has occurred along the asphalt wearing course, and will become a safety risk to motorists if not addressed in the near future.Drainage installation along the length of road. Pavement reconstruction utilising a foam bitumen stabilisation to reduce construction times so that construction can be completed within school holidays. Works also include kerb and channel construction and vehicle/pram crossing construction.
Wantabadgery Road (Rural Road) - 059818-15NSW-RTR
This section of the Wantabadgery Road was constructed in excess of 60 years ago. It is a narrow 5m wide seal with a vertical and horizontal alignment of a poor standard which does not meet any of the design criteria for a road required by the modern travelling public. The fifth culvert on the road is an inadequate drainage structure that requires replacement.It is proposed to reconstruct 2km of the Wantabadgery Road to a 7m wide seal with 0.5m gravel shoulders. The vertical and horizontal alignment will be designed to a 100 kph standard. The work will include new drainage structure consisting of a 3 cell 3m x 1.8m high box culvert.Total cost of proposed project is $780,000

Unsealed road creates dust issues in the dry season and contributes to siltation of drainage network during rain events.Formalising road formation and sealing road including pavement works, edge treatment and drainage.
Maroni Road, Berriedale - 059833-15TAS-RTR
Maroni Road is a local urban street, serving adjacent residential properties. Maroni Road was constructed in 1964 and is nearly at the end of its useful service life. The road pavement is in need of reconstruction. New road surfacing is required and kerb & channel and footpath need to be replaced.Excavation and replacement of the road pavement and new sealed surfacing. Replace kerb & channel, footpaths and driveways in the area of works.Total cost of proposed project is $523,711
