The Freeburgh Bridge was deemed structurally unsound and closed to traffic during an inspection in February 2015 to scope upgrade works.The complete removal of the existing structure and replacement with a new steel and concrete bridge in the same location.
Bitumen seal is cracking and starting to fail on the section. Reseal will stabilise the surface and give a new life of approximately seven years.Reseal a section of 13.4 kms x 6 metre section of the roadTotal cost of proposed project is $350,981
Gravel surface is worn, rough and unpredictable making it unsafe. Inadequate depth of gravel remaining on road leading to poor road conditions following rain events.Reshape formation to 8m road width (where possible), construct 150mm gravel overlay, clear and reshape table drains on either side of roadway to provide adequate drainage.
Council bridge inspections identified a reduced deck capacity, unsafe bridge barrier and damage to the abutments.Removal of the existing superstructure and deck. Repair and modification of the existing abutments and construction of a new steel and concrete bridge with new compliant bridge barrier.
