Major Projects Business Case Fund

The Major Projects Business Case Fund (MPBCF) initiative supports the development of robust major project business cases for nationally significant projects and enables the Commonwealth to engage early with states and territories in planning processes to ensure broader Commonwealth objectives are considered as projects are developed.

In the 2023-24 Budget, the Australian Government committed an additional $200 million over 2 years into the MPBCF.

Your submission, including any personal information supplied, is being collected by the department for the purpose of seeking public and industry comment on the approach and content of its proposed cost estimation guidance, in accordance with the Privacy Act 1988 (the Privacy Act).

Submissions, in part or full, including the name of the author may be published on the department's website or in the Government's response, unless the submission is confidential. Submissions will only be treated as confidential if they are expressly stated to be confidential. Confidential submissions will be kept securely and will only be disclosed in the following circumstances:

  • in response to a request by a Commonwealth Minister;

The department may also disclose confidential submissions within the Commonwealth of Australia, including with other Commonwealth agencies, where necessary in the public interest.

Please note that in order to protect the personal privacy of individuals in accordance with the Privacy Act any submissions containing sensitive information, personal information or information which may reasonably be used to identify a person or group of people may not be published, even if not marked as confidential.

Existing gravel topped floodway washes out every time its floods.Widen culvert, seal and rock pitch.Total cost of proposed project is $20,480
Capercup South West Road, Duranillin - 058868-15WA-RTR
The existing roads weaves between trees and is narrow, trees interrupt drains and drainage is poor so water is flooding over road.Remove trees, widen road and improve drainage.
Rathjen Road, Mypolonga, South Australia - 058869-15SA-RTR
Rathjen Road is currently a high traffic unsealed road and creates a strategic freight route in/out of the Mypologa fruit growing region. There are 2 substandard 5 way junction on Rathjen Road that will be addressed as part of this project.Reconstruct and seal 5400m of Rathjen Road to provide an all weather low maintenance surface and improve the ability for freight to be brought in/out of the Mypolonga Region

Existing natural spring flowing under the road, making road impassable by heavy vehicles in winter, once disturbed the road has to be closed until surfaces hardens.Subsoil drain, widen and gravel through site. Seal floodway.

Queen Street, Yamba - 058873-15NSW-RTR
The existing kerb and channel is under capacity causing issues of localised flooding of properties and water sheeting across the road during heavy rainfall.The existing kerb and channel will be upgraded (widened) to increase capacity over a 22 metre length.
White Road, Monarto South, South Australia - 058875-15SA-RTR
White Road, currently unsealed carries large volume freight movement to and from Ingham's Chickens Breeder Facility (Chicken Growing. As White Road runs parallel to the South Eastern Freeway (within 30m at is shortest point) there is often dust issues on the freeway. In addition due the freight volume maintenance of White Road is a high cost item for Rural City of Murray BridgeRehabilitate and improve the unsealed granular pavement by installing additional material and applying 14/7mm spray seal. Pavement works will be undertaken by Council works staff with sealing works contracted to Council sealing contractor.

Sealed Road running surface very rough and corrugated and seal now breaking upFull reconstruction to 7 metre wide seal including building up pavement.Total cost of proposed project is $549,850
